Paris shuffles its bus map

After over 70 years, Paris has just shuffled its bus map with new and altered routes that add five lines and scrap three existing ones and change many others. In all, service to 265 bus stops is affected. Fifty routes have changes; only 19 are untouched.

Unexpectedly, the start of new routes last Saturday got an extra difficulty on top of getting people used to the new information: Saturday also saw the largest Yellow Vest protests in the capital in weeks.

During the 70 years since the old maps were drawn, not only did Paris grow and populations shift, but several new Metro lines and tram lines were added and the RER express rail system was created. City transit authorities say the new bus alignments are needed to reflect all those changes and provide better connections.

The best part of every trip is realizing that it has upset your expectations
