I've begun exploring the Idaho panhandle in some detail as it's the place I now call home. At the advice of a friend, my wife and I made our way to Sandpoint and enjoyed a late lunch at Panhandler Pies restaurant and bakery. The place is only open for breakfast and lunch, and we got there shortly before closing.
Its decor is typical of that found in the region -- lots of natural wood. It has a fairly broad menu, but most important is that it has PIES! All types of pies, as you can see from the menu. By the way, I happen to love pie!
My wife had a soup and sandwich combo, which was excellent; I decided to go with an apple cinnamon bun which was gigantic, very filling and delicious. It was among the best cinnamon buns I've ever had! Service was great, the staff experienced and friendly.
We took a whole blueberry pie home with us, and it was terrific. Definitely will be back there soon, as should you if you're in the area.'
