Oneworld alliance promises one-app experience

Oneworld, the airline alliance led by American Airlines and British Airways, is rolling out a new digital platform that will eventually allow travelers with flights across multiple member airlines to manage them from their 'home' airline's app or webpage.

oneworld, as it likes to spell itself, is 20 years old, and its leaders are promising a 'radical transformation' to position it for the years ahead as the airline industry faces changes including more competition with discount airlines, some of which have become major players themselves.

While some of the changes are passenger-facing, including changes to encourage more airlines to join, either as full partners or as 'oneworld connect' members and the possibility of opening oneworld lounges at key airports, others involve faster contracting among members.

The best part of every trip is realizing that it has upset your expectations
