October 2, 2020: Rivers in Yoho National Park

In a region of spectacular natural scenery, Yoho National Park more than holds it's own.  The park is situated in eastern British Columbia, straddling Banff National Park, the two together offering the best the Canadian Rockies has to offer.   The region is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, in part because of the Burgess Shale fossils found here.

I visited the park in early summer when the rivers were roaring with the high altitude thaw.  It was beautiful!

A bonus of visiting this time of year is the chance to see wildflowers, in this case beautiful and fragrant wild rose blossoms growing on the banks of the Kicking Horse River.
