As part of a promotion to rebuild the tourism business in New York City, there's now a Ferris wheel doing a three-week run near the northern end of Times Square, and like London's Marble Arch Mound, it's already drawn criticism.
The 110-foot high wheel which is on Broadway near 47th street offers a ten-minute ride that's about three spins around for $20 a ticket, or $35 if you want to skip the line. Kids go for $15.
Critics have complained about the high prices, short ride, and limited views of anything but Times Square, since it's installed between two buildings each of which is far taller than the Wheel.
Meanwhile, a long-term project to build a wheel similar to the London Eye across the harbor on Staten Island was abandoned last year in a sea of red ink and corruption charges.
