Isabella Stewart Gardner, an immensely wealthy Bostonian who married another fortune created a fabulous art collection, and a Venetian palazzo to live in and to leave as a museum. Her instructions were clear: Trustees are not permitted to move any of the paintings and sculptures, but the courtyard is constantly changing with the seasons. This view is from early October.
