Norwegian slows growth, drops a route

Norwegian Air's rapid expansion in North America is taking a bit of a pause, with cuts in its 737 service to Northeast cities and now the end of a Newark-to-Paris route.

The Paris route used Paris's second airport, Orly, which Norwegian will stop using altogether as it consolidates its French operations at Paris/Charles de Gaulle. It will still have Paris service from New York JFK among others.

The airline has been making cuts lately to return to profitability. In North America, aside from cutting a number of routes from Hartford, Providence and New York/Stewart, that has meant closing crew support bases at Providence and  Stewart. In Europe, it has resulted in some route shuffling and clipping as it lowers its presence in Rome.

The best part of every trip is realizing that it has upset your expectations
