Norway: Many cut back on flying

Norwegians are apparently among those most willing to forego flying to save the environment, with 23% responding in a University of Bergen survey that they have intentionally avoided flying for climate reasons.

The study also found a high percentage of people who are signed on to other environmental measures including sorting their rubbish more than previously (65%), reducing food waste (64%), cutting back on energy use (62%) and being more open to changing living habits (61%).

On the other hand, while Norway also has the world's largest percentage of electric vehicles, at least in part due to generous subsidies, its economy is, ironically, heavily dependent on revenues from its vast North Sea oil operations.

The best part of every trip is realizing that it has upset your expectations
