Non-instant messaging: Note in a bottle took 11 years

A Swedish family that found a message in a bottle while out in their boat near Gothenburg has now connected with the Norwegian youth who posted it eleven years ago, near his home in Frederikstad, Norway.

The Swedish family read the message, "I am a boy who likes to jump on the trampoline. I am called Herman and I am nine years old," and posted it on Facebook, hoping for a connection. That was three years ago, when the bottle had been at sea for eight years, by the date on the note. When the note went into the bottle, Facebook wasn't even around!

Recently, Sara Hoffman, the Swedish woman came on the picture of the note again and reposted it, with a request that others share it. This time it went viral, and was eventually seen by Herman Andreas Brunback Larsen, who is now, of course, no longer nine, but 20, and he still likes to jump on trampolines.
