No more Eurostar for Mickey and friends

Between pandemic financial losses at Eurostar and the prospect of a more complicated travel documentation system coming into force next year, Eurostar has said it will end its popular straight-from-London-to-EuroDisney.

The 2.5-hour service from London St Pancras direct to the Disney park outside Paris has a legion of British family fans for whom it makes a one or two-day trip to Disney realistic. The service will in early June of next year, with the rail company saying it needs to concentrate on its core services between London and cities in France, Belgium and Netherlands.

Next year, the EU will implement its new automated Entry Exit System to monitor visitors from outside the European Union and Schengen area, which many fear will make travel to the continent more complicated for UK residents, as a fallout from Brexit.

In other effects from Brexit, Eurostar has abandoned, at least for now, its two stations in Kent, between London and the tunnel because of changes in entry and exit protocols. It will still be possible to reach Disneyland Paris by rail from London, but it will require changing trains to French railroads at Lille or Paris.

The best part of every trip is realizing that it has upset your expectations
