Nothing in Vegas stays the same for very long, except the bright lights and crowds of tourists. And just as desert mirages vanish before your eyes, so soon will the Mirage Hotel on the Las Vegas Strip.
The 30-year-old mega-hotel, owned recently by MGM Grand, will be rebranded as a Hard Rock Hotel, and will see some of the open space in front of it taken up by a new guitar-shaped hotel tower, the brand's recent strategy in other cities as well, including this one in Hollywood, Florida.
The long shutdowns during the first year of the pandemic hit many Las Vegas hotels and venues hard, and some have struggled to return to full use, including Mirage. The sale to Hard Rock, which is owned by Florida's Seminole tribe, was for $1.075 billion cash.
