Night Jungle Walk, Costa Rica

It's amazing what you can see if you walk in the jungle at night with a flashlight.  It's dangerous in the dark, of course, so I don't recommend doing this unless you're with a professional guide, as we were on this jungle night tour.

What did we see?  Lots.  Many of my photos turned out too poorly to be used  because of the low light levels, but here's some of what we saw:

A bug with glowing spots on its head (sort of like a firefly)....

A variety of birds sitting in the bushes and trees.....

A spider mimicing a walking stick insect, which throws its web (not unlike Spiderman).  Note the legs at the bottom of the photo are holding the web which it will throw to try to catch its dinner....

I believe this was a fairly newly hatched cicada....

A three-toed sloth moving far above us....

Lastly, and most dangerous of all (but fortunately coiled high in the branches of a tree) was this viper.
