New York's oldest hotel for sale

When you think of historic New York hotels, you probably come up with names like Waldorf-Astoria, Saint Regis, and the like, but likely not the Incentra Village Hotel, the city's oldest operating hotel, although not always under that name.

The 12-room hotel on Eighth Avenue in Greenwich Village has been renting rooms since 1841, long before 'The Village' became a hip destination. Last week, its owners listed it for sale.

Despite its 182-year history, it's actually an up-to-date operation, and quite upscale after addition over the years of such amenities as individual bathrooms, not a thing in the 1840s, as well as air-conditioning, kitchenettes, high-speed internet and smart TVs.

The best part of every trip is realizing that it has upset your expectations
