New glass bridge has a hanging bar

The competition for the most spectacular—and scary—glass suspension bridges has taken a new turn with a unique diamond-shaped bar hanging from the center of a glass bridge west of Georgia's capital, Tbilisi.

The bridge over Tsalka Canyon is 'only' 240 metres long and 'only' 280 metres above the canyon, but none of its longer or higher competitors can claim the opportunity to calm your nerves with a stiff drink halfway across.

The site's developers, part of the Georgia government's nature reserve project for the canyon, have applied for Guinness designation for the bar as the world's largest and tallest free-hanging building, a category that likely has few competitors.

Construction of the bridge included a year spent testing to see how seasonal changing conditions affect the bridge.

The best part of every trip is realizing that it has upset your expectations
