New dome train for U.S. Rockies

Rocky Mountaineer, operator of luxury glass-domed trains on routes in western Canada is expanding its operation to the U. S. with a new route that will run from Denver, Colorado to Moab, Utah.

The route, named Rockies to the Red Rocks, will be a two-day trip, but without the sleeping cars available on the Canadian routes, which operate out of Vancouver to three sites in the Rockies. The U.S. train will overnight at Glenwood Springs, Colorado, where passengers will sleep at a luxury hotel.

August 2021 is the target date for the first runs, which carry a price tag starting at $1250 per person. The Canadian trains have two classes, Silver Leaf and Gold Leaf; it's not clear yet whether the U.S. trains will have the same two levels.

The best part of every trip is realizing that it has upset your expectations
