New bike path will circle Lake Garda

Italy's Lake Garda, widely-regarded as one of the world's most scenic spots, is getting a new bicycle route that will completely circle the lake without requiring riders to use steep and difficult mountain paths.

The route, which will end up costing about €100 million, will connect existing paths with new construction to make a route that's open to all cyclists, including those who like to take it easy. That means, in some cases, floating the path onto new construction along the route; the video below shows a section now under construction and other other views along the route.

When completed, by 2021, the path will total about 87 miles. Its placement along the shore is intended to give riders a feeling that they are flying or floating over the lake.

The best part of every trip is realizing that it has upset your expectations
