Turkey's hard-hit tourism industry got more bad news last week as three more cruise lines took Turkey off their cruise itineraries for 2017, joining many more that had already done so.
Royal Caribbean, Princess and Uniworld announced the action, in the wake of a year of terror attacks in Istanbul and Ankara, and widespread repression in the wake of an attempted coup last summer. A number of western governments have urged their nationals to avoid Turkey or at least be very cautious, including the UK and the U.S.
A few lines, including Silversea and Greek-based Celestyal, will continue to call at Mediterranean ports such as Kusadesi.
