Monet's guesthouse now on Airbnb

A house in Giverny, France that was once owned by painter Claude Monet and used to house his overflow guests can now be rented through Airbnb.

Called the Blue House, it's a short walk away from Monet's home and gardens, and is itself surrounded by large vegetable gardens—which is also what it was used for in Monet's time.

The house was renovated in 2016, and can be rented for about $225 a night, or less for renting only one floor. The house has three bedrooms, three baths, and a mix of modern and antique furniture. The ads specify that a cleaning lady lives nearby.

Although Monet painted many scenes of his home and gardens, he appears never to have painted the Blue House, although he did paint a picture of that name, but the titular house is in Zaandam, the Netherlands. The Giverny Blue House was painted by American Impressionist Guy Rose in 1903, though.

The best part of every trip is realizing that it has upset your expectations
