March 30, 2018: The Devil, You Say!

Here's a charming devil indeed, with a shiny apple to offer as a bribe to the Foolish Virgins of the Biblical parable, lined up before him at Strasbourg's Oeuvre Notre-Dame museum. 

But a quick look at the back of his robe shows a less appetizing view; the robe is open to reveal snakes and toads within.

The museum is run by L'Ouevre Notre-Dame, the centuries-old organization responsible for building and maintaining the historic cathedral across the square. It's full of salvaged objects from long-gone churches, as well as originals that have been replaced on the cathedral itself.
