The Henderson, Texas downtown merchants decided to have an early Christmas celebration — The Magic of Christmas on Main Street.
Christmas trees line streets with wreaths hanging overhead. Young women dressed as toy soldiers pass out candy canes to children. An animated young actress at the Henderson Civic Theater reads a story to wide-eyed children. A music group performs. And, most of all, the stores are brimming with holiday finery from great gift choices to holiday decorations.
My five-year-old granddaughter Ainsley and I arrive early. We peruse Curious Wren Antiques, Better Half Antiques, Deadwood South Boutique and Kelly B’s on the Square buying special ornaments and a few gifts. We also visit Donovan’s Downtown. This store is like an explosion of Christmas décor, scents and sounds.
Ainsley and I only made it around half the square before we decided to go to lunch. There are, or course, other stores to visit specializing in gifts including Covenant Antiques, Rayford’s Florist & Gifts, Sassy Sisters Boutique and many more.
Henderson is a lovely city and, fortunately, it has a vibrant and historic downtown to explore any time of the year. For more information check out Downtown Shopping Henderson, Texas and have a blessed holiday season!
