Love-starved dolphin clears Brittany beach

Authorities in Landevennec, at the tip of Brittany, have been forced to close town beaches to bathers at times because of a love-sick dolphin that's willing to date people if it doesn't find a dolphin.

The rules are in effect when the dolphin is sighted, and no one is allowed within 50 metres of it; it's been known to chase bathers, a traumatizing experience for some, because dolphins are heavy and powerful.

Experts believe the amorous animal "I issued the decree to ensure safety... Several bathers were really afraid — he even lifted up a woman bather with his snout," Mayor Roger Lars told the local newspaper Ouest France. The woman was pulled from the water by a rescue team.

At last report, the dolphin has not been seen for several days, and the beaches are open again, for now

The best part of every trip is realizing that it has upset your expectations
