Loganair, others get Russian Heathrow slots

Russia's war in Ukraine is resulting in a bonus for a number of airlines that are gaining slots at Heathrow that formerly belonged to banned Russian carrier Aeroflot.

Among them are Loganair, based in Glasgow and now the UK's largest regional airline; it will soon become the first British airline in three decades to start service to the London airport. Initially, therScottish airline will fly from Heathrow to Teesside in Northern England and to the Isle of Man. Other routes may come later.

Other airlines that have picked up Aeroflot slots include Westjet, Virgin Atlantic, China Airlines, Avianca of Colombia and Indian airline Vistara, all of which already had Heathrow operations but will now be able to expand them.

The best part of every trip is realizing that it has upset your expectations
