The dramatic engine fire on a British Airways 777 that was about to take off from Las Vegas Tuesday is likely the last flight of pilot Chris Henkey, who has been lauded for a "textbook example" of how to safely evacuate a plane.
Henkey, who is 63, was scheduled to make one more flight, London to Barbados, after the flight that caught fire, but now says "It's safe to say I'm finished flying." Henkey says the quick and calm evacuation shouldn't be credited to him; he told NBC "It's not just me, it's the whole crew really. There were 157 passengers and 13 crew aboard the plane.
The plane itself has been hauled to a remote area of the airport to allow National Transportation Safety Board investigators to examine the plane. They will also interview crew members. NTSB told the Associated Press "we're interested in the exact chain of events." It was not clear whether the plane is repairable. MORE in USA Today
