This is my final installment on La Boqueria Market in Barcelona. You can visit the prior posts (Market overview and Produce) at their respective links.
Spaniards love their meat and seafood! Given Barcelona's proximity to the sea, the affection for seafood is very understandable. Perhaps more surprising is the popularity of the many hams (jamon) you'll find hanging from the rafters. These hams are a delicacy, most having been aged for at least 18 months. The most popular hams are from Iberian pigs which have feasted on acorns for at the final few months of their lives. The carving of ham (as thin as possible) is an art and it's quite a lot of fun to watch.
