Just Get Out of Town: Bargain fare finder

A website with a tantalizing name—Just Get Out of Town—is offering to help you do that by finding superlow fares that usually have a very short shelf-life, and might even look like 'mistake fares.'

Run by Joel and Michelle McDonald, it's based on the premise that with millions of seats and flights, airlines won't always be accurate in their yield management guesses, and will dump some seats at super-low prices, and that now that yield software has become very sophisticated, that often happens many months beforehand, not just at the last minute.

JGOOT works at searching out those seats from a number of cities, and sending links to subscribers who can then plan their vacations around the fares, instead of first planning vacations and then searching fares. Subscriptions for monthly, annual or lifetime run from $24/month, $47/quarter to lifetime at $249.

The service first came to Gumbo's attention because JGOOT has been kicking back its profit for certain periods to support GoFundMe campaigns for striking teachers in Oakland and Denver. They also make free lifetime subscriptions available to public servants at a rate of one for every lifetime sold.

The best part of every trip is realizing that it has upset your expectations
