June 18, 2016: Boats on the Dee, Chester, England

We spotted these boats during a sunny moment of a sometimes-drizzly day in Chester. We were walking along the Dee, the historic boundary between Wales and England, in a park known as Edgar's Field, named for Edgar, the first king of all England, who met there and accepted tribute from eight lesser kings.

DSC08505It's a pleasant walk, with views toward the Norman-era bridge back to the walled city, and these school-children, only two days away from a week's holiday, enjoyed it, too, sitting atop a rock that's part of a former quarry.
