July 27, 2018: Great spaces at the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam

Sometimes not all the treasures in a museum are in the collections; sometimes they are the building itself. At Amsterdam's Rijksmuseum recently, we found a few examples. First and foremost, the museum's art history library, known as one of the best in Europe.

Above, the Court of Honor, used for ceremonial purposes as well as being the room that opens on the hall containing one of the museum's biggest claims to fame—its collection of paintings by Rembrandt and other Dutch masters.

And, finally, a space that wasn't originally part of the museum at all. Recent major renovations roofed over some courtyard spaces to create new indoor areas, making exterior walls into interior partitions.
