January 21, 2016. Happy Days !

Clearing the snow from around my home makes me think of the lazy days of a summer vacation.
I'm a lover of white sandy beaches and blue seas. Without the crush and noise of my fellow man.
Just me and the family.
My favourite haunt is here on this photo. It's Cayo Guillermo. 12 miles off the coast of Cuba.
A place where you can walk miles without interruption by man or beast.
As quiet or as busy as you want it to be.

Do you have a secret hideaway that draws you back each year ?
Maybe somewhere that recharges your batteries for another 12 months.
Share a photo or two of that place that ticks all the boxes for you.
A City - a cruise or maybe a fishing trip !

Could it be somewhere I've never even thought of ?

I had similar thoughts as I was shoveling snow.

For me, just getting out and traveling is the "battery recharger" I need.  I don't have a single place I go back to again and again, usually wanting to get to places I haven't been to yet while I'm still able to.  I know some day I won't be able to travel. as extensively as I do now.

Regarding places I love to visit more than once, Hawaii ranks high on the list, especially the Big Island.   I am fascinating by those volcanoes and the Big Island offers everything a tropical paradise should, with places of quiet and solitude.  And I love walking in the mountains, especially the Rocky Mountains.  Like this trail to the Stanley Glacier in Kootenay National Park, BC.

Do you encounter such things as Bears and other animals with teeth and a nasty kick ? Last summer I was surprised to see a snake in my son's garden. Maryland. He was delighted for some reason. He shot it with the first bullet. Justifies the collection of  weapons he keeps. So he says.

This is my local breathing space. It was used as an Expressway into Liverpool in the years 1400 - 1700. 15 minutes on horseback. Cant do that 8 mile journey in under 30 minutes in a car now !P1010259

The Liverpool beach is terrific!

There lots of animals in the Rockies, although most of them have absolutely no interest in humans.  But I carry a can of pepper (bear) spray whenever I hike, although I've never had to use it.  Bear spray is more effective at stopping bear attacks (rare as they are) than guns are because you're less likely to miss.
