Ireland unveils new 'Way' to tour

The so-called Wild Atlantic Way along Ireland's west coast is getting a new lure, the Shannon Estuary Way, for visitors and hopes that they'll stay longer and spend more.

Fáilte Ireland, the official tourism promotion agency worked with the Limerick and Clare county councils to develop the 207km route that skirts both shores of the Shannon river estuary and includes eleven viewing areas with stories and images from local communities. It's one of several to be developed.

The hope is to draw more visitors away from the cities and into rural areas, and to give them a reason to stay longer. Among the attractions along the Shannon way are a Flying Boat museum, Bunratty Castle and Folk Village as well as the beauty of the area itself.
