How to tour Margaret River Like Sommeliers

“Cherish it for a lifetime,” is how we describe the stay at Margaret River. But what makes it happen? Simple, the wineries, sorry, the world-class wineries this place has to offer, appreciated by laurels all round the world.

If you are dropping in casually or backpacking to this part of the world for their exotic wines, one thing is for sure, you won’t be disappointed.

But yes, you do need a plan, and we are here exactly for that. Below, we have rounded up a list of the best winery experience of Margaret River.

  1.   Voyager Estate

The picturesque scenery of Voyager Estate, the white buildings, and the surroundings, makes your experience here even more iconic. House can suggest the win-flights but if you want, you can also select your own including the aged and limited releases.

And that’s not it, they offer you a cheese board as well as an opportunity for a four-course lunch. Also, what really got hyped was the behind the scenes tour they once offered, which was a treat to the eye.

  1.   Leeuwin Estate

Leeuwin Estate is the home of the annual Leeuwin concert. According to my opinion, all the wine lovers across the globe should come here, start the day with the morning treat they have to offer, tour their catchy gallery, and then sit down for one of the most vintage wine tasting experiences in the world.

They have to offer the most age-worthy wines, either vintage like we said, or have a broad food wine sesh.

  1.   Vasse Felix

The x-factor of Vasse Felix is their Wine Museum. Like none other, wine lovers would be completely immersed in this experience they bring you.

Not just this, they are one of the most celebrated restaurants, adding a cherry to the top. People who generally are fond of wine tasting and its art has Vasse Felix as one of their perennial favorites.

What more? To make your experience even better, you can book a private wine tasting session with the sommelier, only adding to the joy.

  1.   Glenarty Road

A vintage farm vineyard, just like the movies, is a lovely place to visit, taste wine, and count your blessings to the amazing serenity of vineyards and farms, under the open sun.

Six wines, with homemade cheese and sourdough bread, is what you can expect from here, and ofcourse their exceptional taste is worth savoring. What more? You can also book a private session at Glenarty Road.

  1.   Howard Park Wines

Ofcourse, the previous places had wines making the experience ethereal, this place too has exceptional wines, but more than that this place’s specialty is the architecture, which is worth awing for.

Not just this, they are the largest producer of champagne made wines, definitely for a reason, and that is because people love it. But trust me, the architecture and furniture, accompanied by the exotic wines, is really appealing.

  1.   Cloudburst wine

Just like the name, your experience here will be far away from being typical. Because that is what the owner of this place, Will Berliner, a Californian Maverick, believes.

Unlike others, private tasting is the only option here, and that is one big reason we don’t have much information about this place.

But again, do not underestimate this place, it is definitely worth a visit. The owner, Will doesn’t believe in the orthodox way of doing things which is one of the reasons why this place must be given a visit.

  1.   Domaine Naturaliste

Domaine Naturalist in the Napa Valley is run by Bruce Dukes. It is also awarded as Halliday’s Best Winery of 2020 because of its one-of-a-kind experience.

During your visit, you will be allowed to sit near the merlot grapes while you devour yourself in wine-tasting. You must also order a cheese board or a charcuterie for a wholesome experience.

There’s a list of wineries in Margaret River but these were our favourite picks. If you haven’t experienced wine tasting ever, starting from any place in the list would be surreal, and if you have in the past, trust me, these places would stand up to your expectations.
