How safe is your airline? The best and worst lists

 

The annual airline ratings by, logically, AirlineRatings.com, are out, and with few surprises...and with the good news that in general, aviation was safer this past year than the 10-year average.

At the top of the rank, Qantas, the Australian flag carrier. Other well-known names in the top 20 include Alaska, American, Emirates, Japan Airlines, KLM, Lufthansa, United and Virgin Atlantic. Only Delta, of the U.S. Big Three, didn't make the top cut.

AirlineRatings is an independent site that compiles and analyzes airline safety data; its ratings are based on a combination of factors including accident reports, what aircraft are operated and how up-to-date, etc. For a more detailed article, with more lists and discussion, see the Telegraph (UK) HERE
