While today's seaside resorts are full of infinity pools, spas and saunas and so much more, Hotels.com is betting there are still some folks out there who either want to visit or return to simpler times when a towel and a beach chair were all it took.
In a new promotion, with an August 5 application deadline, they're offering a lucky applicant $10,000 to spend the rest of the summer, with a companion, on an extended road trip of retro-style beach motels from coast-to-coast, including $5,000 to spend on beachside snacks from the old days: Frozen custard, hotdogs, saltwater taffy and the like. The 'Retro Beach Motelier' job also comes with equipment, including vintage sunglasses, and AM/FM radio, zinc sunscreen and more.
Of course, Hotels.com expects pictures and publicity out of this, but in keeping with the theme, they're not looking for Instagram: the travelers will be equipped with a retro Polaroid camera and plenty of film. It that appeals to you, the application is online at www.hotels.com/beachmotel.
