Hong Kong Public Petitions to Save Trams

Hong Kong residents are upset after consultant, SitKwok-keung, recommended Hong Kong scrap part of the tram network.  Sit Kwok-keung, said the tram is too slow, blocks traffic and is unnecessary. Thousands of residents have signed petitions to save the trams.

The trams, known as "ding-dings" for the sound of their bells, have served Hong Kong  for more than 110 years and still carry around 200,000 passengers a day. The planning body discusses the consultants proposal in October. The Hong Kong government has already told the public it had no plans to remove the trams but nervousness remains.
