In a move that some have suggested was long overdue, London's Heathrow Airport has re-opened a mothballed terminal and dedicated it to arrivals from 'red list' countries where coronavirus risk is currently high, including India.
Terminal 3, for many years one of the main international arrival terminals, was closed in April, 2020 as air traffic plummeted, and nearly all arrivals were concentrated in Terminal 5. Although separate lines are used for flights arriving from high-risk location, there has been no real separation in the arrivals hall.
UK nationals and residents returning from red-list countries are required to spend a 10-day quarantine in a designated hotel; those coming from amber-list countries must quarantine, but may do so at home or wherever they are staying in the UK. The red list has 43 countries on it, including India, Brazil and Turkey.
