Gumbo's Pic of the Day, Sept 2, 2014: Luxembourg Gardens, Paris

Luxembourg Gardens

As I have mentioned in previous posts, whenever we visit a new city, town or village, we always seek out the nearest park or gardens in order to get our bearings and to just soak the atmosphere of the place. Paris was no exception and we found one within 5 minutes of where our hotel was in Montparnesse.

The Luxembourg Gardens or Jardin du Luxembourg as the French would call it, covers 23 hectares and  is known for its lawns, tree-lined promenades, flowerbeds, the model sailboats on its circular basin, and for the picturesque Medici Fountain, built in 1620.

It was early Autumn when we were there and the trees had already dropped most of their leaves. My eyes picked out this scene with the trees and benches all lined up and the camera couldn't resist recording it. It took almost half a day to see the rest of gardens and it was a pleasant experience that I still remember today.
