Gumbo's Pic of the Day, October 23, 2015: St George's church, Portland UK

Drawing much inspiration from London's St. Paul's cathedral is St. George's church in Portland, England. Designed with obvious enthusiasm by an apprentice of Sir Christopher Wren, it appeared to jumble together a disparate number of design ideas. This finally left the finished building to be less than critically acclaimed by architects of the day. I nevertheless like the church as it broods over the busy churchyard below.
