The Burrard Bridge (aka the Burrard Street Bridge) is an Art Deco style bridge constructed in the 1930s. It spans False Creek and connects downtown Vancouver with its southern suburbs. In addition to vehicle traffic it has pedestrian and cyclists corridors. The bridge is constructed with elevated lanes such that ships can easily pass underneath.
This photo was taken from Granville Island. It was late afternoon, shortly before sunset, with the light soft and angled. Several pairs of rowers were doing sprints in False Creek. You can see part of Vancouver's skyline and in the distance, Stanley Park (one of the great urban parks in North America).
