One of the most memorable trips in my journeys was to Egypt, and the overnight train from Cairo to Aswan was an adventure in itself. Our "first class" compartment was reasonably comfortable, but the trains are a bit dated and could use an overhaul (which they will never receive!). The best part of the journey was meeting other fellow travelers from around the world.
Arriving in Aswan we alighted and gathered to swap tales of our rocking and rolling ride. Our tour group consisted of 7 New Zealanders, 4 Australians (including us) and one British/American. Every person had their own story to tell and we all delighted in hearing of and comparing our exploits.
