Gumbo's Pic of the Day, May 16, 2014: 3rd Century BC door knocker Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka

Sometimes you see an object that just needs to be photographed even though you will have no more information about its origins. Here I came across a beautiful 3rd Century BC door knocker whilst I was visiting the historic site of Anuradhapura in Sri Lanka. It is just exquisite in its detail and I suspect, but have no proof to support it, that the door knocker has astrological horoscope details on it's supporting plate.
