Gumbo’s Pic of the Day, February 20, 2015: Postcards from Morocco - orange juice vendors

In the heart of the bustling World Heritage site "Jemaa el-Fnaa" square, in front of the elegant Koutoubia mosque, in the centre of Marrakech, you will find lines of these mobile orange juice vendors all jostling to attract your trade for their freshly squeezed thirst-quenching and reasonably priced glasses of orange juice. Pause in the shade of their canopies and just absorb the massive bustling world of tourists and "Marrakshi's" (inhabitants of Marrakech) all going about their daily business. If you are very lucky you can take a covert photo or two, otherwise your lens is greeted with "no photo" or, if after taking your innocent snap, you will be met with an insistent demand for appropriate payment...

Another unusual practice that came as quite a shock.

Not one that you or I will suffer I think Mac.

My daughter has long natural blonde hair.

And every male in the market wanted to stroke it.

I told them a firm NO ... but they insisted. And the line to touch her increased.

So our day in the market was cut short.
