This captivating statue of Oscar Wilde can be found in Merrion Square, Dublin, Ireland.  Commissioned by the Guinness Ireland Group and sculpted by Danny Osborne, this fetching statue was unveiled on October 28, 1997.

Oscar Fingal O'Flahertie Wills Wilde (16 October 1854 – 30 November 1900) was an Irish writer and poet who resided in No. 1, Merrion Square, Dublin, from 1855 to 1876 .  Today he is best remembered for his epigrams, his novel The Picture of Dorian Gray, and his plays.  For more information on Oscar Wilde, please go to this link.

 

Merrion Square

 

Merrion Square is is a Georgian garden square on the southside of Dublin city centre. It was laid out after 1762 and was largely complete by the beginning of the 19th century. It is considered one of the Dublin's finest surviving squares, and is a wonderful place to visit for a casual stroll or picnic.
