Greenland village gets unwelcome iceberg

A village in Greenland is holding its breath as an immense iceberg drifts just offshore, triggering fears of flooding and worse.

Innarsuit, with 169 inhabitants in northwest Greenland, woke last Thursday to find the iceberg drifting just off shore. The local authorities have evacuated low-lying areas, and warned people to stay away from the shore.

Lina Davidsen, security chief of Greenland police told local media "We fear the iceberg could calve and send a flood towards the village." The police chief added that "The iceberg is still near the village and the police are now discussing what do to next."

The best part of every trip is realizing that it has upset your expectations
