The Bundeskartellamt, Germany’s competition regulator, said Booking.com must delete ' best price' clauses from it's contracts and general terms and conditions that affect hotels in Germany by January 31st.
Booking.com has made changes to it's 'best price' clauses this year allowing hotels to offer cheaper rooms on other Online Travel Agencies , but not on the hotel's own websites. Booking.com says competition authorities in Denmark, France, Greece, Hungary. Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom, all voiced support of their 'best price' clause changes. However, Germany ruled those changes aren't enough and Booking.com must allow hotels in Germany to display lower prices on their own websites by the end of January. Priceline Group, parent of Booking.com said it planed on appealing, but will cooperate with the Bundeskartellamt, pending the outcome of their appeal.
