France drops all Covid travel rules

France, which once had some of the most stringent rules for travel during the Covid pandemic has now officially dropped all Covid-related travel rules, but is keeping authority to reinstate them.

Travelers to and from France will no longer be required to prove vaccination or even testing, and mask-wearing, including on public transport and airplanes is 'strongly recommended' but not required as of August 1st.

Aside from the travel regulations, nearly all Covid measures within France have been dropped, and a proof of vaccination is no longer required for restaurants, museums and other sites.

The government has allowed the March 2020 state of emergency, extended until now, to expire, but has retained the power to reinstate testing and other measures if the Health Minister determines it is necessary "after the opinion of the competent scientific authority." Such action would not require Parliamentary action, at least through next March.

The best part of every trip is realizing that it has upset your expectations
