Flying over Washington State in the Winter

 

Like many of you, my preferred seat when flying (especially for shorter flights) is a window seat.  Main reason is that you have the opportunity to enjoy the scenery -- assuming decent weather, clear enough skies, etc.

Recently I flew across Washington state on a clear sunny day just after a January snowstorm.  The flight started in Spokane in the east and ending at SeaTac airport in the west.  It's not a long flight, but passes over the Columbia River, the Cascade mountains (including several glacier-capped volcanoes), Puget Sound and downtown Seattle.  That's a lot of interesting places to see in a short period of time.

While taking photos through a plane window is far from ideal, here's some of what I saw on this flight:
