Florida Brightline getting ready for Orlando

Florida's 'higher-speed' rail line Brightline took a significant step last week toward becoming a major rail link throughout the state with a first test run from the Miami area to Orlando International Airport.

The line has so far been running service limited to a corridor between Miami and West Palm Beach. The extension to Orlando will triple the route and, with additional stations in the Miami area, link Miami's cruise terminal with the Orlando area. The Orlando route will open for service early next year.

After Orlando Airport, the next sections planned or under construction include an extension from the airport to Disney World and then on to Tampa. The company is also building a high-speed line between Las Vegas and the Los Angeles area.

The best part of every trip is realizing that it has upset your expectations
