Floating hotel gets N. Ireland okay

A barge presently in Norway is slated to become the first floating hotel on the island of Ireland, with planning permission granted—but the owners of the marina where it will be moored are still looking for investors.

The project at the Cranagh Marina in Coleraine is on the Bann River, a few miles from the sea, but the marina's owner pointed out that the location is fortunate for not having any locks or bridges that would make moving the vessel difficult.

The hotel would have 36 luxury rooms, each with its own bath, and would add about 50 jobs in the area. Local officials hope it can be a boost to other businesses in the area.

The best part of every trip is realizing that it has upset your expectations
