Tickets are on sale for another attempt to restore air service to England's scenic Lake District, which lost its commercial connections 25 years ago. Loganair, the operator, has set July 4th as the start date.
Loganair, which also operates a number of regional services in Scotland, will fly five days a week to Carlisle, a half-hour from Penrith, gateway to Lake District National Park, from Dublin and Belfast, and four days a week from London Stansted. No flights Tuesday or Wednesday on any of the routes.
Fares on all routes, which will be flown on 34-seat turboprops, are £44.99 from London and £39.99 from the Irish cities. All fares include a 20kg checked bag.
But seriously: don't hold your breath; start dates were previously set for 2017 and then again for 2018, although this is the first time that tickets have been put on sale.
