Every country by age 28, and still en route!

Visiting all 193 UN-recognized countries by age 28 is just not enough for Henrik Jeppesen of Denmark. He also wants to check off the territories, colonies and even uninhabited islands, for a total of 325 places.

He started his trek in 2008, with a smaller goal: “First I wanted to do 50 countries, then 100 and then I felt comfortable doing them all. Why? I think because I could.” Along the way, he's picked up 100,000 social media followers, and perhaps more important, a visibility that's earned him sponsorship by airlines and luxury hotels.

But that's only lately, and most of his travel has been done on a shoestring, couch-surfing for the night, eating supermarket food, hitchhiking and using public transport. He told the Telegraph (UK) “It’s much cheaper to visit every country in the world than people think - but you must be willing to live like a local on a budget, not like a tourist.”

Since many of the last places he's trying to visit now are remote, uninhabited and in some cases off limits, his new visibility may be helpful in getting to some of them.
