Europe car chargers not well-spread

Electric vehicles are more and more popular in Europe, including in car rental fleets, but in some countries they won't be as easy to charge as in others.

Almost 50% of all the available chargers are in the Netherlands and Germany. The numbers for the two tell a different story, however: There are 90,284 chargers in the Netherlands, which accounts for less than 1% of Europe's land area; Germany with 8% has 59,410. France is third with 37,128.

Belgium, which is in 6th place, is taking steps to change the picture; a former Esso station (above) is the first to be converted from gasoline to electric charging under a program that aims to convert 100 stations by 2024, with 12 of them online this year.
